Dhaka: Leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Jatiya Nagorik Committee have announced their intention to launch a new political party within this month. The declaration came during a press conference held at Banglamotor, Dhaka, on Wednesday.
Jatiya Nagorik Committee Convener Nasiruddin Patwari, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, and Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Convener Hasnat Abdullah addressed the media, stating that the party aims to start engaging with the public by March.
They emphasized that for the first time in 53 years, various groups are coming together to establish a political platform. The initiative seeks to move beyond conventional electoral politics and create an inclusive space for a wide range of demographics, including victims of the 2024 protests, rickshaw pullers, marginalized communities, and individuals from different religious and age groups.
Additionally, they clarified that individuals serving in the advisory council of the current interim government will not be eligible to join the new party.
